Simple Ways to use Witchcraft While Feeling Under the Weather

This article was inspired but getting a really bad flu the day of the Solar Eclipse and it is still kicking our butts days later lol. Being sick as a parent means you have to be creative about the ways you take care of yourself as well as your kids. As I was stirring the soup I was making I realized I’ve been doing a pretty good job at keeping up with spiritual care as well as physical care while sick. So, I wanted to share some simple ways you can also do energy healing or do witchcraft while you’re feeling under the weather.

Obviously resting as much as possible, drinking fluids, and eating well are the most important things you can do to heal. I’ll skip those to not repeat the obvious. Also, I want to note, typically I don’t do large spells when sick as they take a lot of energy. So, these will all be low energy methods of healing and witchery.

One of the easiest things you can do is charge your liquids and food with healing intention. I wrote a previous article about charging your water with intention that I can link in the comments.

For kitchen witchery, I’ll use soup as an example since it’s the best when you’re sick! You can really get creative with soup too. You can look up the metaphysical for the herbs you use and add them to the soup with intention. For example, rosemary for protection and healing and comfort. Garlic for cleansing and protection. Bay leaves for healing and strength. Oregano for health and vitality. There are a lot of options! And as you stir the soup, stir clockwise and really pour your intention of healing your body (and your family) with this soup. I also thank the spirit essence of the herbs I used. I’ll say something to the effect of “To the spirit of Oregano, I am grateful for your healing power and the vitality you will bring me.” I say some form of thanks to each herb I intentionally used. I believe there are spirit essences for all living things, including plants and crystals. I can talk more about this if you guys are interested!

Tea is another easy and effective way to heal your body. You can use loose leaf herbs and combine them or prepackaged teabags. You would essentially do the same steps I described above. Adding juice from a lemon and honey to your tea is especially helpful while you're sick. Some herbs and roots that are helpful while sick are:

-Fresh Ginger root or ginger tea- Nausea, digestion, vitality, anti-inflammatory

-Turmeric- anti-inflammatory

-Nettle- can help with coughs, respiratory health

-Echinacea- Immune system boosting

-Lavender- calming, relaxation, mental wellness

-Ginkgo- respiratory health, mental clarity

-Peppermint- Nausea, digestion, anti-inflammatory

-Chamomile- calming, relaxation, mental wellness, sleep

-Valarian root- sleep aid

-Elderberry- Immune system boosting

Here is an article I found that goes into deeper detail:

I recommend researching about the different plants you plan to work with. Some can interact with medications, and some can be toxic in large quantities. You will more than likely be fine with food and teas, but I want to mention this to be safe. If you have any doubts or concerns about using a particular herb, it's wise to consult your doctor. If you are pregnant or nursing, I also recommend taking that into consideration when you work with plant medicine.

Another thing you can do if you're feeling up for it is before you go to sleep, listen to crystal sound bowl music and meditate for a few minutes. Imagine channeling a white or green healing light up from the earth, through your body and chakras, and up out through you crown that connects back up to source. You can imagine this energy cycling through your system and strengthening your body to help it fight of the cold virus. When I do this at least once a day while sick I swear I notice a difference. I also make it a point to really thank my body and appreciate it for how string it is and how much it does for me.

You can do a simple healing spell as well, however like I mentioned I usually don't do spell work while sick for myself personally. I have always found it drains too much of my energy while sick. You can do this if you feel called though or do it for a family member.

Simple Candle Healing Spell

-Do whatever you like to do before a spell as usual. This can be casting a circle or calling in the four directions.

-Get a green or white candle (green is often used for healing, but white is versatile and can represent purity and clarity). Place the candle on a dish or on tin foil. Place a circle of salt around the candle for protection.

-You can choose to dress the candle with oil. You can use olive oil, frankincense oil, or essential oil such as lavender or eucalyptus. I just use four light drips down each side.

-If you dress it with oil, you can also put a small pinch of herbs on the candle, as well as surrounding it. You can use any herbs you feel called to use on hand, but here are some I usually use for this spell. Chamomile, Lavender, Mint, Rosemary, + Thyme. After placing herb type of herb, you can say something like: “With this oil/herb, I invoke healing energy to flow through this candle.” I always thank you plant spirits as well.

-I usually grab clear quartz and calming crystals such as blue calcite or moonstone for this stone as well.

-Light the candle. Take a few deep breaths to relax and clear your mind. Close your eyes and visualize a peaceful, healing energy surrounding you. Focus on the flame and picture it radiating warm, soothing energy. Imagine this energy flowing into the area of your body that needs healing or simply feel it surrounding you with comfort and strength.

-You can also imagine the illness burning up and out of you, releasing the sick energy within you.

-You can repeat healing affirmations or look up some words for a healing spell or write your own invocation. You could say “I light this flame to bring healing and comfort, to restore balance and wellness. May the energy of this candle aid in my healing process.”

-Let the candle burn up all the way down. When it's done burning, thank the candle and the energy it has provided.

-For disposing the spell remains, it's up to you. You can bury them outside your home or give them to a tree.

I would love to hear anything else you guys may do as well!
